Oracle DBA in the cloud

The world is moving upwards, into the clouds, and so is the IT services management. Very soon, gone will be the days, when you, the DBA would be required to maintain the server room, all those servers, racks, storage and all the crap within and surrounding it.

You would just have a laptop and a VPN connection to the servers. With putty, ssh, x client and ftp you would be managing your databases and the underlying operating system. Decades will pass and you won't get a chance to see your hardware, but why you should be at the first place?

Network was the computer and now cloud is the computer, and future DBA is no exception. There is no concept like remote DBA now. It's Cloud DBA.
